Popular Wedding Dates in 2027: A Guide to Planning Your Big Day

Choosing your wedding date is one of the very first decisions you'll make as an engaged couple, and it sets the tone for everything that follows, your venue, your guest list, even your dress season. If you're getting married in 2027, here's what to know before you lock it in.

Start With the Season

On the Gold Coast and across most of Australia, autumn (March to May) and spring (September to November) are the sweet spot. The light is soft, the humidity has settled, and the temperatures sit in that easy, comfortable range, perfect for an outdoor ceremony and photos that don't leave anyone wilting.

Winter (June–August) is having a real moment too. Cooler, crisper days mean beautifully golden light for photos, and venues are often more available (and sometimes better priced).

Summer weddings are still gorgeous here, just plan for the heat and have a shaded or indoor option ready.

Marrying in European Summer

If you're dreaming of saying "I do" somewhere further afield, June to August is Euro summer, long golden evenings, warm Mediterranean air, and some of the most beautiful light of the year. It also happens to fall right in the middle of our Australian winter, so it's a lovely way to swap a cool Gold Coast season for endless summer light overseas. Destination weddings across this window book out early too, so if Europe is calling, it's worth starting the conversation about your date and photographer sooner rather than later.

A few dates worth knowing if Europe is on the cards:

• Midsummer (20–24 June) – a beloved wedding weekend across Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Norway, thanks to the long daylight hours and festive atmosphere

• Bastille Day, France (14 July) – fireworks and celebration nationwide, though venues nearby book out early

• Ferragosto, Italy (15 August) – the height of Italian summer and a gorgeous, romantic time to marry, just allow extra lead time as much of the country slows down around it

Long Weekends & Key Dates to Know in 2027

A handful of dates are worth marking on your radar, whether you want to build a long weekend around your wedding for interstate guests, or steer clear of a holiday clash altogether.

• Australia Day – Tuesday 26 January

• Easter – Good Friday 26 March, Easter Sunday 28 March, Easter Monday 29 March

• Anzac Day – Sunday 25 April (with a Monday public holiday observed 26 April in several states)

• King's Birthday (QLD) – early October

• Christmas Day – Saturday 25 December

• Boxing Day – Sunday 26 December

Easter weekend in particular tends to book out fast, it's a natural long weekend for guests to travel, but venues and vendors get snapped up early. If it's calling to you, start locking things in now.

Dates Couples Love (and Why)

Every year, a few dates become unofficial favourites simply because they're memorable or symbolic:

• 7 July 2027 (7.7.27) – lucky numbers and an easy one to remember every anniversary

• Saturdays in general – always the most requested day, so if you have your heart set on a Saturday in peak season, aim to book your photographer and venue 12–18 months out

A Gentle Word on Timing

The most popular Saturdays in autumn and spring fill up quickly, sometimes more than a year in advance for well-loved venues. If you already have a date in mind, the best thing you can do is start reaching out to your venue and key vendors as early as possible. And if your date is flexible, a Friday or Sunday wedding (or a shoulder-season month) can open up more options and often a better rate.
