When the ocean feels like home, where else would you get married?
That's exactly what these ocean lovers decided to do. They invited their family and friends to paddle out at Tallebudgera Creek on the Gold Coast for a unique ceremony right in the water. The celebration continued with a reception at Acre Boomerang Farm, where everyone gathered to celebrate their newlywed joy.

When Nadia and Mati told me their wedding vision, I was so in love with it that I didn't hesitate to say yes! My mind started envisioning the ceremony in the ocean, everybody paddling out with a smile on their face... the circle in the ocean, and from that moment, I couldn't wait for their day to come.
The plan was to do a paddle out in the ocean for sunrise, but the swell picked up that week and the backup plan was to do it in Tallebudgera Creek as it would be easier for everyone to paddle out and hold a circle. So we met there at 5:30 am, and this is what we got: stunning colors in the sky and a beautiful rainbow.
The tide was dropping, so Andrew the celebrant recommended to paddle out closer tot he river mouth and the north side of the creek so we all had to paddle very quickly to the spot, make a circle swiftly, and perform the ceremony before the tide pulled us all into the bridge. If you've been to Tallebudgera Creek, you would know there is a bridge that crosses the creek.
We were 2 cameras in the water next to the celebrant, myself for photo, Iggy on video, and Tav on land with the drone footage. The beautiful scenery is between the river mouth and the creek, so we had no option but to do the ceremony in 10 minutes, including the paddle in and out. It was intense, but we made it!
These are some of the most beautiful moments.

When the ocean wedding was over we had to paddle back into the shore because the tide was drifting everyone to the other side of the bridge, but once on land Nadia and Mati had their first kiss surrounded by all friends and family. It was very special.
They had breakfast there and then everyone went home to get ready for the second part of the wedding, this second part was on land, at the Acre Boomerang Farm.
Nadia arrived with the bridal party in a blue combi and Mati's reaction when he saw his bride was priceless.
On a side note, Nadia had 13 bridesmaids. They were all wearing different shades of blue, and you can imagine what it was like to organize all these girls for the bridal party shots. It was just really fun and I felt like I just wanted to hang out instead.
After the laughs and drinks, the couple enjoyed some time with their friends and family. They didn't want to spend much time away from everyone, so we did portraits in 30 minutes. This is a great example of how your day should be just as you feel. Not every wedding has to follow the same plan; it is your day, and you organize it as you wish. If you want to be with your friends during cocktail hour, that's what I will capture. If you don't want to do one hour of portraits, you just don't have to.
