The Maternity session with Laura and Iker was one of my all-time favorites. Shot in July, during the middle of Queensland's winter and whale season, it was a magical experience. Mornings were chilly, but Laura was fully committed to capturing stunning images of her pregnancy. She told me, "You tell me what to do, Marina, and I'll do it." Although she initially expressed how awkward she felt in front of the camera, pointing out insecurities about her body, she trusted me completely. That's what really matters, right? Letting go of those doubts and embracing the moment. We started at Fingal Headland for sunrise, and it didn’t disappoint—the sky bathed us in the most incredible orange glow. Despite the freezing 6 a.m. weather, I asked Laura to slip into a bikini for just a few shots. The light was too perfect to pass up. As she stood there, Iker suddenly called out, “Look, whales—right behind the headland! A mother and her calf.” In that moment, with the whales passing and the golden light embracing her, I asked Laura to removed the bikini, and we captured an unforgettable shot:

Starting a session like this set the bar high, but it only got better from there. Scroll down to explore some of the stunning Land & Sea images from Laura & Iker’s unforgettable maternity session.

We wrapped up the session with a refreshing swim in the ocean, and the water clarity was simply stunning. As I mentioned earlier, this was Laura and Iker’s first photography session, and I love how natural, unposed, and relaxed they both appear in the photos.
It’s completely normal to feel awkward or uncomfortable in front of the camera, but it’s easier than you think to let go. When you allow yourself to relax and have fun, it creates moments like these—genuine, playful, and beautiful.
I hope you enjoyed reading about this session.
With love,
Marina.
